Another Custom Envelope

Last week I had a short blog post about an envelope I made using the new Stampin' Up envelope punch board.  Here is another envelope I made recently using the envelope guide that came with my Martha Stewart scoring board.

How Cute Is This??

Take a look at the envie I made with my new Stampin' Up envelope punch board.

I have 5,000 things to do this evening or I would go into more detail about the envelope punch board.  Let me just say that it is a paper crafting tool that allows you to make your own envelopes.  

I needed to mail a Christmas treat but didn't have a festive envie large enough for the item.  So I finally tried out the envelope punch board that has been sitting in its box since I bought it two months ago.  

As you can see from the above photo, my item fit perfectly in the envelope.  YAY!!

BTW, isn't the address label cute?  It is actually a gift tag.  I covered up "FROM" using a thin piece of washi tape.

Paper Boxes

My friend, Judy, belongs to a needlepoint guild.  At their last meeting, they actually did a papercraft project - constructing paper boxes out of cute scrapbook paper.  While Judy is crafty in the needleworks area, she isn't quite so crafty in the papercrafts area (or so she says).  Anyhoo, instead of making her paper box, she brought the materials and instructions to *yours truly * to finish.

Since the paper for this project was 1) so cute and 2) not a part of my own personal inventory, I decided to try constructing a box using some of my paper.  If I happen to read the instructions wrong and end up with a lopsided box, I would prefer that it be done with paper from my stash and not with this cute paper that Judy entrusted to me........

Isn't this sewing-related paper adorable?  This particular paper is one-sided so the bottom of box will be made using the thimble paper and the box top will be the needle/thread paper.  How cute is that going to be?

But first, back to me making the box using *my* paper.  I actually used two-sided paper ('Tis The Season from Graphic 45's Christmas Emporium collection); however, I made the box (top and bottom) using one side and used the opposite side to line the box.

Let's see how it looks.  Here is the bottom of the box -

To "finish" the top of the box, I added a strip of the inside lining paper and adhered a "joy" sentiment.  Let's see how it looks.....

Cute isn't it?  Okay now so how about the finished box using Judy's papers?  Well, since Tom and I are having Thanksgiving dinner with Judy and her hubby, I have decided that Judy and I will have a little papercrafting lesson after dinner.  I'm sure she will be excited about that ;o) - I will take a photo of the finished box and post it on a future blog....but until then, keep crafting!

Two of My Favorites

I just finished making a card using two of my favorite products....1) Graphic 45 paper and 2) Lovely as a Tree stamp set from Stampin' Up.  I am entering this card in the October card challenge that Graphic 45 is having.

French Country Greetings

I think I have mentioned in prior blog posts how much I *love* Graphic 45 papers.  Earlier this year they came out with a paper collection called French Country.  True to its name, the colors and designs in this collection does remind me of the French countryside.   Enjoy!

A Baby Card for a Special Friend

My friend Lydia is pregnant with her fourth!  Her baby shower was last weekend but I didn't get to attend as I was out of town on an annual "shopping" trip with three friends (I hope to blog about that soon). 

Anyhoo, I wanted to post the card that I made for Lydia.  I used gender-neutral colors since the baby's sex is not known.  I pulled out some papers from two of my favorite paper companies, Graphic 45 and Webster's Pages, and here is what I came up with..........

 

 

A very simple (but elegant!) card.

The card size is 5" x 5".  The Graphic 45 paper was attached using foam dimensionals and the bow was attached using (another of my faves) Glue Dots!

 

I am also submitting this card for the Word Art Wednesday Challenge #56 - God's Goodness.  One of the ways that God's goodness is manifested is through the giving of physical life.  When we look at newborn babies, our first thought is "how sweet"; however, beause of sin, that newborn is at enmity with God and will continue to be as he/she grows unless God opens their spiritual eyes and heart to the Truth.

Altered Photo Frame

Normally my papercrafting consists of card making but last week I tried something different...........

I came across a paper mâché picture frame that I bought too long ago to even remember buying it.  Anyhoo, I decided to try my hand at "altering" it using some Graphic45 paper.  The red print is from the Dometic Goddess collection and the nutcracker is from their new Nutcracker Sweet collection.  I found a photo of our snow-covered house/yard/trees to put in the frame.  You likey?

His Eye is on the Sparrow.......

Here is my entry for this week's Word Art Wednesday card challenge.

A Bible verse is not being used this week but words from a song, "His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me." The basic theme of the song is taken from scripture - how we should not worry or be discouraged.....God takes care of the sparrows and He will take care of His children.

I encourage you to read Luke 12 which talks about how we are not to worry nor be totally consumed with the things of this world. Instead, we should be seeking first the kingdom of God and those things eternal or spiritual. Luke 12:29-31 states:

     "And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you." (NKJV)

In our fallen nature, the above commandment is not easy to accomplish. We are to prone to worry about this, that, and the other. That is why daily Bible reading, prayer, and fellowship with other Christian's are so important.  It helps us stay focused on what is truly important.

Card Challenge - Word Art Wednesday

I'm entering this card in the weekly Word Art Wednesday card challenge.

The suggested Bible verse for the challenge is from Isaiah 54:13:

 "And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord;
  and great shall be the peace of thy children." (KJV)

Each Wednesday when the Bible verse is posted for the weekly challenge, I look up the verse in the Bible and read it along with the entire chapter from which the verse is taken. The book of Isaiah is one of my favorites because of all the prophesies about Jesus. Not only is his birth foretold in Isaiah (9:6) but also his death (chapter 53).

Chapter 54 tells us of the Lord's grace, mercy and sovereignty in the lives of his chosen people. Verse 17 states,

"No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.".

What a privilege to be called a servant of the Lord. Another blessing is knowing that my standing before God is not based on my righteousness (I would be condemned!) but on the righteousness of Christ. As Romans 8:1 states, "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."

When we are taught of the Lord, as mentioned in verse 13, then we can have peace knowing that Christ became the perfect sacrifice for sin and that, as a Christian, I am no longer under the wrath and condemnation of God. Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gift.....the gift of salvation through Christ Jesus.
