A Baby Card for a Special Friend

My friend Lydia is pregnant with her fourth!  Her baby shower was last weekend but I didn't get to attend as I was out of town on an annual "shopping" trip with three friends (I hope to blog about that soon).

Anyhoo, I wanted to post the card that I made for Lydia.  I used gender-neutral colors since the baby's sex is not known.  I pulled out some papers from two of my favorite paper companies, Graphic 45 and Webster's Pages, and here is what I came up with..........

A very simple (but elegant!) card.

Supplies used:

yellow cardstock and ribbon - Stampin' Up (Summer Starfruit)

The card size is 5" x 5".  The Graphic 45 paper was attached using foam dimensionals and the bow was attached using (another of my faves) Glue Dots!

I am also submitting this card for the Word Art Wednesday Challenge #56 - God's Goodness.  One of the ways that God's goodness is manifested is through the giving of physical life.  When we look at newborn babies, our first thought is "how sweet"; however, beause of sin, that newborn is at enmity with God and will continue to be as he/she grows unless God opens their spiritual eyes and heart to the Truth.

"Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good."  - Psalm 107:1

A Baby Card & A Giveaway!!!

I wanted to post a photo of the card I made last week for a dear friend's baby shower.  The inspiration for the card came from an Authentique blog post for their September card challenge.

The light blue background is from Jillibean Soup's Soup Staples collection.  The design on the paper (squares) made it easy for me to place the one inch squares around the larger 2 1/4 inch middle square.  I punched out one inch squares from blue-themed or baby boy-themed papers.  Some of the one inch papers are from The Paper Loft's Huckleberry Pond collection, Doodlebug Design's Snips & Snails collection, Echo Park's Pride and Joy collection, and Graphic 45's Playtimes Past collection.

The larger middle square is the nursery rhyme 'Hey Diddle Diddle' from Graphic 45's Playtimes Past collection.  The 'Rock-A-Bye Baby' banner is from Graphic 45's Little Darlings collection (can you tell I really like Graphic 45 papers?).  I added a blue button and a teddy bear button to two of the outside squares for embellishments.  Everything was then adhered to 5x5 yellow card stock.  Please keep in mind if you use a 5x5 envelope for mailing, you will need to add extra postage for "odd-sized" envelope.

I had a lot of fun making this card and coming up with the different coordinating squares.  I plan on using this card layout more in the future.

Now.......what's this about a giveaway?  Well, yesterday I celebrated my one year blogiversary (woo hoo!).  So to celebrate and to hopefully spread the word about my blog, I am having a giveaway.  Six products are up for grabs........
