Dig out those old stamps!!!!

I have been a member of the Tennessee Stampers Yahoo group for several months.  Each month I am involved in a Card-Of-The-Month swap and I have also participated in other swaps and card challenges.

Last week one of the Yahoo group members posted a challenge for everyone.....dig through your rubber stamp stash and find one that hasn't been used for awhile (or maybe NEVER been used); make a card using that stamp and send it to a member of the Yahoo group that you do not know as a RAK (random act of kindness).

I was all over that challenge since I have my "favorite" stamps that get used all the time while others are totally neglected.  I managed to find three (!!!) stamps that had either not been used in awhile or never been used.  Here is the card I crafted with those three stamps:

Supplies used:  Bazzill Basics card stock (my fave!)
sentiment stamp:  Stampin' Up - God's Way set
pear stamp:  Stampin' Up - All Natural set
curli-que on left side:  ?????  - from an "unmarked" stamp set in my stash (it is not a
                            Stampin' Up set)

I did mail the card to a member of the Yahoo group that I did not know as a RAK.  What better way to get to know someone!

I am also entering this card in the Word Art Wednesday Challenge #54.

Autumn at Foxplace

Foxplace is the "official" name of our 97-year old house.  We are the third owners.  I'm sure the second owners are probably the ones who established the house's name.  No, their name wasn't Fox....the original owners were named Fox.  I can just imagine that when the 2nd owners moved in and people asked where they were living they would reply "We have moved into the old Fox place" and the name Foxplace was born.

I do love this time of year!  I walked around our yard last week with my camera and took some photos of things that "caught my fancy". Sit back, enjoy the show and....

......to Foxplace

Playing with New Stamps!

There's a new rubber stamp company called Fresh Squeezed Stamps.  I recently ordered two of their stamp sets, Happy Hexagons and Subway Series: Holidays.  Last week I finally got around to using the stamps to make some cards.

First, I started with the Happy Hexagon stamp set.  Seems like hexagons are "big stuff" in papercrafting these days.  When I saw the Happy Hexagon stamp set (which has 10 different hexagon stamps and 4 sentiments), I knew that I could come up with lots of different designs for cardmaking.

If you are familiar with quilt patterns, you know that the Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt is made piecing hexagon-shaped fabric pieces together.  I started stamping a piece of white card stock with good intentions of making a Grandmother's Flower Garden design for my card front.  I kinda got carried away and covered the entire card front in hexagons.  Here is what I ended up with.........

The white cardstock was going to be mounted on blue cardstock so I started stamping the hexagons in blue.  The blue cardstock was then going to be mounted on a red card so.......halfway thru stamping, I decided to stamp one hexagon in red to match the red cardstock.  A sentiment from PTI Framed stamp set was added to the front of the card using foam squares for dimension. Since making the card shown above, I made two similar cards but I stamped a separate red hexagon on a scrap piece of white cardstock, cut it out and adhered to the card front using foam squares.  This really makes the red hexagon "pop"!

The next card pictured was made using the Subway Series:Holidays stamp set.  The left hand side of the card is (discontinued) paper from Creative Cafe.  The Thanksgiving Subway stamp was used on the right hand side.  I stamped the image on orange cardstock using orange ink.  A green ribbon and green buttons (with orange/white twine) were added as embellishments.  Everything was adhered to green cardstock.

Time to get your craft on and make some holiday cards!!!!
